Prof. Dr. med. Charlotte Braun-Fahrländer

Charlotte Braun-Fahrländer (Prof. Dr. med) is the Deputy Director of the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine at the Swiss Tropical Institute, Basel, an associated institute of the University of Basel, Switzerland.
She has a medical background with a postgraduate training in epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in the UK. Her research group has been involved in a large number of field studies in paediatric environment epidemiology investigating e.g. effects of air pollution and risk factors for asthma and allergies.
The first study in farm children has been conducted by her research group and subsequently she has been involved in the ALEX, PARSIFAL, and the PASTURE studies. The focus of her research group has recently expanded to also include physical activity patterns in children and their relation to personal and environmental risk factors.
